These digital cards here  on X alleging that Kenyan media outlets Citizen and NTV reported that FORD Foundation is sponsoring demonstrations in Kenya are FAKE.

The graphics were published after President William Ruto cited on Monday, July 15th, 2024, that the US-based NGO was the main sponsor of the protests.

However, the protests led to the spread of false information through social media. There’s also no evidence that FORD funded the activists or summoned them to account for the funds.

Subsequently, an investigation by Woman Kenya Network shows that the graphics circulating online are fake. The purported Citizen digital card  under scrutiny differs from an original Citizen digital card. The card lacks consistent punctuation compared to the original Citizen digital cards. The fake graphic also uses a different colour scheme from the original.
